Hello! Here is the graduation card I made for my nephew Daniel who just graduated from high school. I didn’t think he was graduating til later in the month so I had to whip it up quickly.
I don’t make many graduation cards at all anymore so I don’t have a new graduation stamp set. I used an old one from my stash but this one from Technique Tuesday is similar. I first ink blended some silver ink onto the top of the white panel so that it was darkest at the top and faded as I went down. I used old shimmer white cardstock from Stampin’ Up! that I had in my stash but, unfortunately you can’t really see the shimmer, even in person. Lawn Fawn has a Neutrals Shimmer Cardstock Pack that I would like to try. I then stamped the two graduation caps from the stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (suitable for Copic coloring) and colored them with Copic markers C3, C5 and C7. I stamped three more caps onto a scrap of white cardstock, colored them and cut them out, and added them with foam tape on top of three of the caps for a little bit of dimension. I added some gold mirror cardstock stars that I punched with a star punch.
I used the Skinny Upper Alphabet dies from The Stamp Market to spell the word “GRAD” with black foil cardstock from Concord & 9th’s Formals Foil Paper Pack. I used a retired “congrats” die from Stampin’ Up to complete my sentiment. This congrats die set (word and shadow) from Honey Bee is pretty similar to the one I used as is this one from Paper Rose (also word and shadow set of dies).
I matted the front panel onto gray cardstock and then onto a card base made from Black Licorice cardstock from Lawn Fawn. I love the weight of Lawn Fawn cardstock for card bases. The Lawn Fawn Neutrals Cardstock Pack has white, tan, two shades of gray and black cardstock in it.
For the inside of the card, I used a sentiment from the same graduation stamp set and repeated the two caps that are on the outside.
I even added a little detail to an envelope :).
Thanks for checking out my graduation card. Have a wonderful week!
