Crocus Flowers Thinking of You Card

Crocus Flowers Thinking of You Card

Hi! Today I’m sharing a card using products from Pretty Pink Posh and Avery Elle. I thought the products had a similar style and coordinated really well. I love this color combination and the Gansai Tambi watercolors were really easy to work with. They are the highest quality watercolors in my collection.

I stamped the flowers and leaves with the Crocus Flowers stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh with Versafine Black Onyx ink onto Canson XL Watercolor Paper and die cut them with the Crocus Flowers Coordinating Dies. To color the flowers and leaves, I used 40- Lemon Yellow and 43-Cadmium Yellow for the centers of the flowers, 139-Cobalt Violet for the petals, and 51- Sap Green Light and 53- Sap Green for the leaves.

For the sentiment, I watercolored a scrap of white watercolor paper with Cobalt Violet. The You’ve Got This die set from Avery Elle comes with an outline die so I cut the outline out of the violet watercolored paper. Then I diecut the “thinking of you” sentiment from it being careful to center it well. I also die cut the “thinking of you” sentiment from a scrap of white cardstock.

I die cut a large oval out of masking paper and applied it to a 5-1/4″x4″ piece of watercolor paper. I watercolored around the oval it with a light wash of 61- Ultramarine Pale. I then removed the mask to reveal the white oval. This created a nice background for the flowers and sentiment.

I glued the background onto a standard A2 110lb Neenah Solar White card base. Then I arranged the flowers on the bottom of the background panel, and adhered the sentiment close to the top, inserting the white die cut into the watercolored outline piece. I was out of town when I made this card and didn’t have foam tape so I couldn’t pop up any of the elements. I only applied glue to the centers of the flowers so the edges are free. That and the layering with the thick watercolor paper created just a little bit of dimension.

I decorated the inside of the card with another flower and some leaves but didn’t add another sentiment. That way I can use this card for multiple occasions.

This is such a happy card. I’m sure it will brighten someone’s day, especially during this cold, rainy January. I hope you will pull out your watercolors and do a little painting in the very near future. Thanks for stopping by!
