The Fa-La-La-La Friends Photopolymer Stamp Set came out in the Holiday catalog but you can use the stamps for many occasions. Just omit “THIS HOLIDAY SEASON” from the sentiment on this card and it can be used for a birthday, sympathy or miss you card among others.
The paper I used is the Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack. The papers are 6×6 and you get so many patterns! 48 sheets, 4 each of 12 double-sided designs. I used a little strip of Garden Green Cardstock to break up the patterns a little bit. The card base is also Garden Green.
To create the focal panel (2-3/4″x4″), I stamped the sentiment with Basic Black Archival Ink in two parts, inking up only the part I needed for each line (this sentiment comes in one long line). I then masked off the arms of the bear stamp and stamped it with the same ink. You can skip this step but I find that, when I fussy-cut images to glue onto a panel, I get a better finish when I stamp the image onto the panel because I get a cleaner outline despite the unevenness of my fussy-cut image.
I stamped the full bear image onto Crumb Cake 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock twice. I fussy-cut one image and colored in the sweater by watercoloring it with Garden Green Ink. Then I cut the arms without the claws from the second stamped image and colored them the same way. I cut the arms apart and used a bone folder to curl them a little so they would wrap around the bear nicely. I attached the arms to the back of the bear with liquid glue, using the opposite arm on each side. I added the claws with a black marker.
I punched a heart out of red pattern paper with the Sweetheart Punch. I attached the heart to the bear using Dimensionals and then attached the arms to the heart with liquid glue. I added glue to the partial bear image I stamped on my panel and placed my finished bear onto it, lining the images up. I cut a mat (2-7/8″x4-1/8″) for the panel out of another paper from the pack and assembled the card. The other pattern papers are 1″x5-1/2″ and 3-1/2×5-1/2″.
The little holly embellishment is from the Holly Berry Happiness Photopolymer Bundle (you can get the stamp set and punch separately). I simply stamped the two leaf outline images and the berries (all with Basic Black Archival Ink), punched them out, and adhered them to the card with Mini Glue Dots.
This is definitely a departure from the type of cards I make most (which is brighter, usually more feminine). It is such a warm card that would be perfect for a guy. I know a lot of us have a hard time making masculine cards but this stamp set and paper are perfect for them. Remember, this stamp set and paper are in the Holiday Catalog so they won’t be around forever :).
