VIDEO-Crocus Flowers Birthday Cards with Colored Pencils and Gamsol

Crocus Flowers Happy Birthday Card

Have you ever used colored pencils and gamsol? Using them really is an easy way to color in images and get a nice smooth result. Today I used Prismacolor pencils (you could use any brand of quality pencils) and gamsol to color the images from Pretty Pink Posh’s Crocus Flowers stamp set. I used the Crocus Flowers dies to cut out all the images for these two very similar cards. I diecut the sentiments with the Happy Birthday Script die, also from Pretty Pink Posh.

I used Prismacolor Premier pencils, two shades of each color: yellow/orange numbers 917 and 1002, pinks 928 and 929, and greens 912 and 913. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb, the panel is Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake, and the flowers and leaves were stamped on and diecut from Neenah 80lb cardstock. I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink for all my stamping.

To add a little detail to the card background, I stamped with Versamark Ink the Polka Dot Turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th.

For the yellow flower card I used yellow glitter cardstock from a Recollections (Michaels) 12″x12″ brand paper stack. It is pretty thick and decent quality for a very reasonable price. I trimmed off all the diecuts that were sticking out at the bottom of the card. I didn’t love the look of the flowers trimmed that way so I left them whole on the pink flower card.

For the pink flower card I used white glitter cardstock from the Concord & 9th Neutrals Glitter Paper Pack. I added a little less dimension, choosing to glue all the leaves directly to the card front.

Both cards have a heavy coating of Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss which is unfortunately not visible in the pictures. It’s really pretty in real life.
