VIDEO-Die Cut Edge Cards with Altenew’s Painted Butterflies

Hello!  I’m back with some more cards made with Altenew Painted Butterflies Stamps & Dies.  I posted the card below a few weeks ago and wanted to use the dies this time.  I created two cards with slightly different color diecuts placed along a die cut front panel.  A strip of pattern paper adds a backdrop for the “floating” butterflies.

For the new cards I used Bristol Smooth White Cardstock for the card bases and Distress Oxide Inks for stamping, as well as Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  For the first card I used Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink .  For the second card, I substituted Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide Ink for the Picked Raspberry.  I love cards with color combinations with yellows, pinks, and oranges.

For the sentiments, I used an MFT stamp set called You Give Me Butterflies (I bought it at a store and it’s now discontinued 🙁 ) but replaced the word “Birthday” in the stamp with a “wonderful” die cut from the Wonderful Words Dies from Concord & 9th so that I could add glitter cardstock.  I had an older glitter cardstock pack that I purchased at my local Hobby Lobby from The Paper Studio.  To add dimension to the diecut, a stacked two diecuts cut from thick white cardstock under the glitter diecut.  I used Stick It Adhesive Sheets (available in Large 8″ x 12 1/4″ sheets or Handy 6 1/8″ x 8″ sheets) to make stacking the three diecuts easy.

The strips of paper are scraps from Stampin’ Up! paper packs but you could used any scraps that coordinate with the card.  The enamel dots are also old Stampin’ Up but you can find all sorts of enamel dots at stores and online.  You could also use some of the newer Nuvo – Crystal Drops or Nuvo – Glitter Drops.  They come in lots of fun colors and you can make your accents any size you want.  I only have black and white at the moment but plan to get a few more colors.Altenew Painted Butterflies Diecut Edge Card-pink

To add a little more interest, I added some ink spatter to the second card using the Distress Oxide Inks and a water brush.  Do you like the spatter or do you prefer the more clean and simple card?  If you watch the video at YouTube, please leave me a comment and let me know.
