Hello! Today’s card uses a die set that was released with Valentine’s Day in mind, paired with a balloon stamp and die set to make a tall birthday card that fits into a standard #10 business envelope. All stamps and dies are from Concord & 9th.
My concept for today’s card was to have the tag “hanging” from the balloons as if the balloons were carrying the tag in the sky. I ink blended some light clouds using a cardstock diecut that I made using the circles die from the Birthday Stacks Die Set. I used a set of Yoseng make-up brushes that I bought from Amazon (an alternative to the Picket Fence brushes that retail for a whole lot more) and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink.
I used VersaMark Ink to stamp the balloons onto Bristol Smooth White Cardstock after prepping it with my Ranger Anti-Static Pouch. I then poured on some Ranger Ink – Basics Embossing Powder – Gold and heat embossed them. I die cut the balloons but put them back into the cardstock piece to easily ink them with the brushes and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink, Abandoned Coral Distress Ink, and Mustard Seed Distress Ink.
To add a little color to the tag, I added ink blended cardstock behind the hearts and the letters. To add a little bling to the card, I coated the entire tag and balloons with Clear Wink of Stella, and added some gold star sequins. I hadn’t originally planned to put the card on a colored cardbase but I ended up using Calypso Coral cardstock from Stampin’ Up! to create one.
For the inside of the card I chose to stamp HAPPY BIRTHDAY over some stenciled balloons. I simply used the cutouts from the balloons as stencils and the same three ink colors, applied very lightly. I added strings with a gold pen that, unfortunately, ran out. I ordered two other pens and I like them both a lot. One is the Signo – Gold Uni-Ball Impact Pen which is a gel pen (you might be familiar with the white pen) and the other is the Wink Of Stella Gold Glitter Pen.
If you purchased Valentine’s or love themed products, I encourage you to think about how to use them for other types of cards. Have fun!
